Next up in our ’60 seconds with…’ series is our customer support superstar, Louise. A hospitality veteran, Louise has taken on everything from Cocktail Bartender to Head of Events in the restaurant industry. Here’s what she did before Rotaready, what you’ll find her singing (or not) at karaoke, plus a snap from her wedding in Marrakech just last month!
What did you do before working at Rotaready?
I’ve dipped my toes into quite a few different things, from my very first job, an after-school gig in a solicitor’s office where I spent hours organising rooms full of paper files (definitely not GDPR compliant) to working as a makeup designer in film and theatre. I’ve also spent many years in the hospitality industry, my most recent role before Rotaready being Head of Events for a London restaurant group.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years time?
I’m quite a spontaneous person so I doubt I could predict 5 years, let alone 20 but, in my free time, I hope to still be exploring cute coffee shops in new destinations around the world.
What’s your dream holiday destination?
My absolute favourite thing to do is travel. I’m in love with Morocco, the architecture, the people and the food; everything is magical! Only four weeks ago I got married in Marrakech (we were very luckily unaffected by Coronavirus).
I hope when all is right in the world again that I might visit New Orleans for one of their famous street parties.
What’s your favourite meal?
Veggie lasagne, all day every day if I could. I thought this love might wane when I went vegan and cut out cheese but alas no, just call me Garfield! Handy tip if anyone is trying to reduce dairy and struggling with a cheese addiction give La Fauxmagerie a look. They’re the first plant based cheesemonger in the UK. When the world is back to normal pop into their London shop for all the tasty free samples. If you’re further afield they deliver all across the UK. This is starting to sound like an ad, I promise I’m just a fangirl!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Everyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I loathe karaoke. I’d take a pub quiz over karaoke any day of the week. I have however, when three sheets to the wind, been known to belt out Zombie by The Cranberries…never a good idea.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
I would have said something boring like mind-reading but social distancing has freshened my perspective and I’ve now got a much better idea – I’d like to be able to develop a vaccine for every illness going!
What’s your best joke?
I recently received an email from my supermarket saying not to eat tinned pork. I haven’t opened it, it’s spam.
