In a rare twist for our ’60 seconds with…’ series, we’re flipping the camera around and interviewing our resident marketing guru, Megan! Read on to discover her love for Greece’s islands and its salads 🇬🇷
What did you do before working at Rotaready?
Having always been torn between the arts and science I actually went to uni to study Biomedical Science when I finished school. However, I soon decided it wasn’t for me and headed in the direction of a marketing career. I started out as an Events and Marketing intern at the SRA, and my most recent role before Rotaready was Marketing Campaign Manager at an adtech company. I’ve also worked in both hospitality and retail, so my role at Rotaready has given me the perfect opportunity to combine my background in retail, hospitality and tech.
What do you like most about your job?
I love that every day is different; whether that’s a new challenge, opportunity or just the variety that comes with my role. I also love being able to work with every department across the company; they’re a great bunch of people, all with something new to bring to the table.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years time?
As a keen baker and avid foodie, I’ve always fancied owning a cafe one day. I worked in a cafe for 18 months after university and loved both meeting new people every day and building a rapport with regular customers. Either way, I love hospitality as an industry so hope to still be working in it for a long time to come.
If you weren’t working in Marketing which role would you take on?
I’d be torn between Customer Success and Development. Having worked as a technology marketer for the majority of my career I have always been really interested in how the product is developed. On the flip side, I’m a real people person, so I like the idea of dealing with clients first hand everyday.
What’s your dream holiday destination?
I love Greece, from the cuisine and culture to the weather and scenery. If I can, I try a new island every year. My favourites so far have been Lefkada and Meganisi but I can’t wait to discover more when we are all able to travel again.
What’s your favourite meal?
This is a particularly tricky question for me, I love all food! I think I’d have to go with either my Mum’s roast dinner or my Dad’s version of Greek Salad… the avocado addition is a game changer.
What are you most likely to be found doing at the weekend?
Well, I would have said that I’m either out of the country, at a bar or restaurant or playing hockey… but none of these are very doable at the moment. So I’ve been getting more creative in the kitchen, making the most of my garden, taking part in the odd social media challenge and appreciating the little things in life; like the pair of ducks who have been visiting our garden every day (below). I tried running too but quickly decided it wasn’t for me.
What’s your best joke?
Did you hear about the mathematician who’s afraid of negative numbers? He’ll stop at nothing to avoid them.
